MetroLINK's top priority is maintaining a safe transit system. After paying your fare, please move to a vacant seat. Remember that the front seats of the bus are priority for seniors and persons with disabilities. Also:

1. Please do not smoke, eat, or drink while riding the bus.
2. Keep pets in carrier except for service animals.
3. Please refrain from using loud audio devices.
4. Keep isles clear or personal items (bags, book bags, purses, etc.)
5. For our parent riders that wish to bring their children on the bus, if you have a child in a stroller, please remove the child from the stroller, then please remove the stroller from the center of the isle as best as possible. Rolling strollers could be hazardous for the passengers, drivers, and especially your children.

Rock Island County Sherriff’s Department and Security Personnel
Sherriff Deputies patrol MetroLINK vehicles and facilities. Supervisors and transit operators provide additional security presence throughout the transit system. Sherriff Deputies and K-9 units perform random sweeps on board MetroLINK buses and facilities. These officers search for explosives and suspicious objects or behavior.

Video surveillance cameras monitor our buses and facilities. The cameras are a deterrent to criminal activity and the video can be used as evidence for prosecuting crimes.

Coordinated Efforts Improve Emergency Response
There is a close link between MetroLINK, police, fire, and ambulance services. We hold regular emergency exercises and all MetroLINK employees are trained in evacuation and safety procedures.

Report Suspicious Activity
If you see a suspicious package or behavior, call 9-1-1 or call a MetroLINK employee; they can request police or fire response. Please follow the instructions of the operator or MetroLINK staff in the event of an emergency. They are trained to ensure your safety.
